Bristol hospital shuts wards after norovirus outbreak
Five wards have been closed to new patients at the Bristol Royal Infirmary due to an outbreak of a winter sickness bug.
Other hospitals have also been affected by the norovirus, with two wards at Weston General and one ward at Southmead also closed to new admissions.
The diarrhoea and vomiting virus spreads rapidly in hospitals as well as schools and nursing homes.
Visitors are asked to stay away from hospitals for 48 hours after they have experienced symptoms, and to thoroughly clean their hands when entering or leaving a ward.
