St Peter's Hospice has opened its 48th charity shop.

The charity's latest shop, in St Michael's Hill, Kingsdown, will be open from 9.30am to 5.30pm from Monday to Saturday and will also be a drop-off point for people to donate goods.

At the grand opening of the shop yesterday, its new manager Angela Prentiss said: "St Peter's Hospice has been interested in opening a shop in Kingsdown for a few years and we are delighted to have finally found a suitable location. Many people in this area will know someone who has been affected by the hospice, a family member, friend or work colleague so we are hoping that the local community will really get behind us and make it a big success.

"We have already had a number of local people getting in touch who are willing to work as volunteers and help run the shop, but if you have a few hours to spare please pop in.

"People have also been dropping off bags of unwanted goods which is fantastic, but we always need unwanted items to ensure we have a good range of merchandise for our customers. We can accept a variety of things including clothing, shoes and accessories as well as bric a brac, books, CDs and DVDs. If you can't get to the shop please call the collection hotline on 0800 5830015 where your goods will be collected free of charge."
