Bristolians tell how they struggled through the snow to get to work on Friday.

Rob Godwin, 27, of Bedminster, who works for White Young Green consultants, said: "I walked in – it's taken 50 minutes. Normally I'd come by bus and it would take around half an hour. I've come from Bedminster to go to Stokes Croft."

Johnny Gilmore, 41, of Brislington, who works for NRG office suppliers, said: "Usually I'd come by bus, but I've walked in this morning. It's taken nearly and hour, it would normally take 25 minutes. It's been a good work out."

Andrew Proctor, 33, of Horfield, who works for HBOS, said: "I walked, I'd normally go by car. It's taken an hour, it usually takes an hour. It's a nice day for a walk."

Leigh Beardsmore, 27, of Knowle, who works for ARF, said: "With traffic the bus would take an hour. I've walked from Knowle to Jamaica Street and it's taken 40 minutes. I have to come in to work, I need the money."

Victoria Hussey, 34, of Redcliffe, who works for Unite student housing, said: "I normally walk in but it has taken twice as long, an hour rather than half an hour. I'm four months pregnant with my first baby but we're really busy at work

Mark Austin, 42, of Totterdown, who works for Royal Bank of Scotland, said: "It would take me 10 minutes from Wells Road by bike. It's taken me half an hour to walk. I work at RBS so I have to go in, because the public own us now."

Mike Harrison, 30, of Redcliffe, who works for Nokia, said: "It's not been too bad. I walked in, I would normally walk or catch the bus. It's taken 40 minutes instead of the usual 20."

Greg Rose, 42 of Old Market, who works for Lloyds TSB, said: "I only live in Old Market so it's taken me 10 minutes to walk in, the same time as normal. It's still an absolute mess though, the roads are terrible."

Mike Nyarko, 20, a UWE student who lives near the Hippodrome, said: "I used to get the bus but now I walk, it hasn't taken very long. It's been slippy and I nearly fell over a few times. A lot of students have been coming in this week."

“I ran into work (centre) from Almondsbury. Not sure what all the fuss was about. A most pleasent way to start the day. The kids had a day off school and played with their mates outside, they also enjoye it. All the comments on here about disasters and "nightmare journeys" need to get over it and just enjoy this once in a blue moon event !!!!!”

“It took me 2 hours to walk to town from Downend. However I did not expect I would need to walk back! The buses were going to Hanham and Kingswood but somehow Fishponds Road was impassible still. So I had another hour walk from Kingswood tonight. I'm just glad to have the weekend to recover!”

“I cycled to work today as usual! It took twice as long. It was a challenge to stay upright. There were quite a few of us on the cyclepath having a laugh about how made we are but all buses were cancelled!!”
