Bristol gala help for hospice charity
House of Fraser in Bristol's Cabot Circus is holding a summer gala to raise money for St Peter's Hospice.
The charity recently announced that it would close its hospice in Knowle by the end of 2009 due to a £500,000 shortfall in legacies and investments.
House of Fraser is holding the event on Wednesday, July 29, from 6.30-9pm, and ticket holders will be able to enjoy an evening of pampering, an exclusive 10 per cent discount on beauty and other special offers. There will be refreshments and entertainment as well as a raffle.
Tickets cost £3 and are available to buy in any St Peter's Hospice charity shop or at House of Fraser. All money raised will go to the hospice.
Emma Simpson, store manager at House of Fraser Bristol, said: "The store team was extremely sad to hear that St. Peter's Hospice was closing one of its buildings at the end of the year due to the recession.
"Many of our customers and staff will appreciate first hand the importance of St Peter's and how they help care for local people with terminal illness and support their families."
"Unfortunately charities are really suffering at the moment and given that our store is the perfect place to host an event, we felt that we were in a position to be able to help raise money. It's going to be a fantastic evening and we would love it if the people of Bristol got behind us and bought tickets for the event, as every donation really does count. All money raised will go straight to the charity."
Sian Rees, corporate fundraising manager at St Peter's Hospice, said: "The closure of our Knowle facility and the decision to focus on our site in Brentry has not been an easy decision but it will enable us to provide the same level and volume of services to local people but in a more cost effective way which will ensure the future of St Peter's Hospice.
"We are so very grateful to House of Fraser for offering to host this event on our behalf. as every penny really will make a difference."
