Bristol fundraiser takes poppy appeal to Gordon Brown's front door
A fundraiser from Bristol met the Prime Minister on Tuesday.
Ann Bedford, 24, of Oldbury-on-Severn met Gordon Brown and his wife as part of her work with The Royal British Legion.
Miss Bedford, who went to St Mary Redcliffe and Temple School, has been working for The Royal British Legion as a fundraising assistant since December 2008.
She had attended No.10 Downing Street to hand the PM and his wife Sarah their poppies as the country geared up for the national launch of the Poppy Appeal this week. Miss Bedford will join up to 300,000 other Poppy collectors across the country to raise £31 million by November 11 for the wounded and bereaved of Afghanistan and their families.
Miss Bedford said: "Meeting the Prime Minister was great. Everybody was really friendly and we were shown around the Cabinet rooms.
"I would urge everybody to buy a poppy. Many of the people we see are wives or girlfriends who have lost their partner in conflict. Many of them are the same age as me, and I just can't imagine what they are going through."
