Companies in Bristol raced their way to a £500 donation to prostate cancer research.

A total of 16 construction firms competed for the Matrix Karting Cup at Avonmouth Raceway.

The winners, from property and consultancy firm Cyril Sweett were awarded £2 for every lap they completed and decided to present their winnings to Run for the Future, the event organised annually by Bristol Rotarians in support of the BUI Bristol Prostate Cancer Appeal.

Ross Chester, senior project manager at Cyril Sweett, chose the charity because his wife's father has been successfully treated for the disease, which affects more than 35,000 men every year in the UK.

The third Run for the Future in Bristol held September raised £130,000 towards research into the early detection and treatment of prostate cancer.
