Staff at a project management firm in Bristol raised nearly £4,000 for charity by completing an all night hiking challenge.

The team of 20 staff members from Provelio took part in a 30-mile walk along the West Mendip Way to Wells back in June.

They completed the walk in 15 hours after setting off from Uphill Cliff and hiking through the dark, including a steep ascent up Crook Peak to a height of 175 metres.

All sponsorship has now been collected and Provelio, providers of Management Services in Estates and Construction, say they raised £3,800.

The funds will go to the Parkinson's Disease Society (PDS), which funds vital research into a cure for Parkinson's disease.

Every year the company stages a different hiking challenge to promote staff fitness and well-being and to date these have raised £23,300 in total.

In 2008 they completed the 25-mile circuit of the Yorkshire Peaks.

This included the ascent of the three highest peaks in Yorkshire, Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, within the set 12 hours.

Bristol director Paul Wilson said: "It's our fifth successful PACE event and we are already planning next years. It's become a great team builder for all staff, whilst providing a wider benefit for charity.

"Well done to those involved and many thanks to all those who supported us."
