Bristol firefighters kept busy with car blazes
A spate of five car fires meant a busy night for fire fighters across Bristol.
The first of the incidents, which were all thought to be deliberate, was at about 9.30pm on Sunday when a Ford Transit van was set alight at Headley Park, Bristol.
Then in the early hours of Monday morning a Vauxhall Astra was set alight on St Whyte's Road, Knowle.
An hour later, at about 1.30am, a camping gas cylinder was used to start a fire in a Peugeot car in Woodside Road, Coalpit Heath. Crews had to use thermal imaging to ensure the fire was fully extinguished.
Just an hour later crews were called to Coleridge Road in Weston-super-Mare, when a Ford Mondeo was on fire.
The final incident took place at 7.10am on Monday morning when a Lexus 300 was set alight on Bridgeman Grove, Filton.

“Well, Timewaster, in answer to your fantasy, fire losses last year were £1.3 billion, that is £3.4 million pounds a day, and it has risen nearly every year since this Junta of a Government started to give us 'targets' and cut fire services budgets to the bone. Fire deaths have also risen.
The sad thing is, I bet you believe your fantasy would work too. You obviously know sweet FA about the fire service, yet feel qualified to offer a ridiculous 'opinion'. A bit like the politicians really.
Lets also not forget the £1.4 billion the Govt has wasted on the flawed regional control centres. With no end to the spending in sight..........”

“Is Timewaster doing sponsored bullsh*t for Comic Relief? Maybe, but judging by the comedy it's written below, I reckon it should peddle it's services to the BBC. Their comedy output lately has been dire.
I'd take the trouble to tear your fantasy to pieces, but I fear that it would go over your head.
Stick to flipping your burgers,Timewaster and leave the firefighting to those of us that know which end of a branch the water comes out of.”

“I recall a previous comment here (forget who from) who suggested that with small fires like these could much more efficiently be dealt with by a Fire-Person on a motorcycle carrying large hand-held extinguishers, where the panniers would fit, to get to a blaze quickly and extinguish it before it really takes hold.
The lumbering Fire-Appliances, mainly in the form of Lorries, would not be needed, saving huge amounts of fuel and resources (and expense).
Motorcycles are quick, nimble, and can cut through traffic at an amazing rate and the quicker the fire gets put out, the less damage there will be to the vehicle and to nearby vehicles or buildings.
You can see how effective those hand-held extinguishers are when you watch Motor-Sport events where vehicles burst into flames, especially 'drag racing'.
A few puffs from the extinguisher and the fire is out.
Brill . . :D”
