A young father bombarded the mother of his child with text messages and phone calls after the relationship broke down, Bristol Magistrates' Court heard.

Lee Kennedy, 20, of Ashton Road was obsessed girlfriend Natasha Jones would meet another man.

He pleaded guilty to harassing Miss Jones between August 6 and August 15 by sending 150 text messages and numerous phone calls.

He also admitted damaging her laptop on August 14.

Mike Hartnell, prosecuting, said: "The victim in this had been his girlfriend for two years when this happened. The couple have a five-week old son but on August 7 they split up because the defendant was too immature for the relationship.

"On August 14 she had been staying at her mum's. When she returned to her flat she found the defendant asleep in the bedroom.

"She was surprised to see him because she had the keys to the flat and had taken his off him. She managed to get him out of the house but noticed her laptop had been broken.

"He was hanging about outside and she called the police because she knew he wouldn't go unless she did.

"She had 150 unwanted text messages and numerous phone calls after she had asked him to stop contacting her. She had a five-week-old baby and was finding it very stressful. The content of the messages was generally about their child but if she spoke to him he would threaten her about dating other men.

"Essentially, he has not been able to accept that the relationship has split up and has bombarded her with calls and texts."

Mr Hartnell requested compensation for the lap top and asked for a two-year restraining order to be put in place which would still allow Kennedy to see his son.

Kennedy, who was not represented in court, told magistrates: "I apologise, I know I did wrong."

Magistrates gave Kennedy a six-month community order with supervision and an element of education, training and employment.

They told Kennedy: "We are not making a restraining order but you must understand that you must not send texts or harass Natasha in any way because she will have every right to bring you back to court."

“Tigether for life, because of the little bundle of joy they had when they should have been experiencing teenage life.

Surely the parents are at fault here for encouraging them?

Still probably got a nice council flat in Sea Mills or somewhere out of it.

Chances of seeing either of them work in their lives...Nil.”
