Bristol drug dealer locked up
A teenager who was caught with hundreds of pounds worth of crack cocaine and heroin during a covert police operation in Bristol has been locked up for 30 months.
Bristol Crown Court heard Mohammed Farah was in the Stapleton Road area of the city when officers saw him dealing.
The 18-year-old, of no fixed abode who had been living in a bed and breakfast in the city until his arrest, attempted to flee the scene but was caught and a bag containing wraps of crack cocaine and heroin was found near by.
He admitted one charge of possessing heroin with intent to supply and one charge of possessing crack cocaine with intent to supply and was sent to a young offenders' institution for 30 months.
Neil Treharne, prosecuting, told how Farah was arrested on November 19.
He said police had received a tip off drug dealing was taking place in the Stapleton Road area and were watching Farah when they saw him deal near the leisure centre.
He said the officers left their car and went after the defendant.
"He fled the scene and was eventually caught. Officers looked close to the area where they thought they saw him throw something," said Mr Treharne.
"They found a bag. Inside was 5.34g of heroin in 26 deals worth about £260 and 5.92g of crack cocaine with a street value of £300."
He said the dealer was detained and officers found drugs paraphernalia including weighing scales, cling film, wraps and powder matching the drugs at his home.
Virginia Cornwall, defending, Farah, a Danish passport holder with previous convictions for possessing drugs and violent disorder, was selling drugs to pay off a drug debt.
Sentencing Farah, Judge Simon Darwall-Smith said: "You were street selling heroin and crack cocaine and paraphernalia for street selling was found at your address.
"Anyone who deals in class A drugs in this country receives a custodial sentence."

“They should just put these sort of people in front of a firing squad. It's the only way to deal with such a problem.”
