A drug dealer caught trying to sell cannabis on College Green in Bristol has been sentenced to four weeks' jail.

Gregory Palmer, 46, from Cotham, was charged with possessing the class B drug with intent to supply after he was seen by plain-clothed officers trying to sell it to a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old.

Palmer was sentenced yesterday at Bristol Magistrates' Court.

Sgt Steve Bell, of the city centre Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: "This problem was highlighted as a priority through the Pact (Partners and Communities Together) process.

"This a great example of the police tackling problems that have been identified by the public.

"It shows that we will listen and act on information provided by the community to get successful results."
