Bristol darts ace Dudbridge targets win in Wigan
Bristol darts player Mark Dudbridge is hoping to build on last weekend's thrashing of Adrian Lewis when he competes in two PDC ProTour events in Wigan this weekend.
Dudbridge beat Premier League player Lewis, the world No 7, 6-1 in Germany a week ago, before bowing out of the Players Championship event in the last eight to eventual winner Vincent van der Voort.
Dudbridge, ranked No 22 in the world, will compete in today's seventh Players Championship and tomorrow's third UK Open qualifier of the year, along with fellow Bristolians Steve Brown, Steve Grubb, Chris Mason, Sam Allen and Matt Draper.
And he said: "The match against Adrian last weekend was the best I've played for years. He still played pretty well, but he admitted afterwards that there was nothing he could do. I'm really looking forward to Wigan. The Players Championship has been going all right so far, but I need to pick myself up in the UK Open qualifiers now."
World No 1 Phil Taylor, the 15-time world champion, will compete in both events, which offer a combined prize fund of more than £62,000.
