Bristol dance school raises money for CLIC Sargent
A Bristol dance school is raising funds for children's cancer charity CLIC Sargent with its latest all-singing, all-dancing production.
Stepping Out School of Dance will be performing the ever-popular Alice In Wonderland at Cotham School on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Published in 1865, Lewis Carroll's classic tale follows the surreal adventures a girl named Alice who falls down a rabbit-hole into a fantasy world.
The seven-year-old encounters a talking Caterpillar, Mock Turtle and Cheshire Cat, and changes from microscopic to telescopic proportions, joins in a Mad Tea Party and plays croquet with the Queen of Hearts.
Lisa Pugh, who runs the Shirehampton-based school, said: "We are delighted to be putting on Alice in Wonderland in aid of CLIC Sargent, it's a wonderful cause.
"Everyone is getting very excited. The costumes and sets are being completed and the children are rehearsing their words, songs and dances - it's like Christmas every day.
"The children are all trying very hard, I am so very proud of each and everyone of them."
Stepping Out School of Dance offers classes in ballet, jazz and tap for both children and adults.
The school promotes the idea of having fun with dance, with no exams or set uniforms.
Mrs Pugh said: "The Stepping Out School of Dance offers students from 18 months upwards a golden chance to gain self-confidence, self-expression and to develop a dance style of their own.
"They can go on to perform on stage, in shows and at dance festivals, while having non-stop fun."
Alice in Wonderland appears at Cotham School, Cotham Lawn Road, Bristol, on Friday at 7pm, Saturday, at 6.30pm and Sunday, at 3pm. Tickets cost £6 Adult/£4 Children. Telephone 01454 615463.
