Nick Abraham, the cyclist who died, aged 29, in an accident on the Portway last week, will be laid to rest following a funeral at Westbury-on-Trym parish church next Tuesday.

Nick, a popular climbing instructor, was the younger son of former Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress Peter and Pearl Abraham and lived with them in Avonmouth.

Councillors stood in a minute's silence as a mark of respect at Tuesday night's meeting of Bristol City Council.

Nick will be buried in a private committal following a funeral service at 1.30pm.

“Thank you to the councillors for showing your respect to our Nicky, that was lovely of you.”
