Bristol commuter has belongings stolen from train

A YOUNG woman from Redland had her case containing her laptop stolen from a train.

The 20-year-old was travelling on the 5.12pm service from Birmingham New Street to Bristol Temple Meads on Friday, January 11 when her case was taken by a man getting off the train at Cheltenham Spa.

British Transport Police (BTP) officers are appealing for the public’s help to identify the man in connection with the theft.

Officers have released a CCTV image of the man they believe will have information which can assist the investigation.

Investigating officer, PC Frank Hedley, said: “The victim placed her large, navy-coloured suitcase in the luggage area in the vestibule of the carriage.

“When she checked it at Cheltenham Spa, she realised her case, which contained clothing, toiletries and a laptop computer, was missing.

“Enquiries are ongoing to find the person responsible.

“After reviewing CCTV images, I would now like to identify and speak to the man in this photograph as I believe he will have key information which can assist the investigation. The man got off the train at Cheltenham Spa station.”
