Bristol college worker sentenced for child porn
An administrator for City of Bristol College has been given a community order for downloading indecent images of young boys.
Malcolm Wright said he looked at the pictures to stop himself offending further, Bristol Crown Court heard.

The 44-year-old, of Rectory Gardens, Henbury, pleaded guilty to making and possessing 165 photos, the vast majority of which were boys in "erotic poses".
The Recorder of Bristol, Judge Tom Crowther QC, gave him three years' supervision, ordered him to take the Thames Valley sex offenders' programme for up to 60 days and made a Sexual Offences Prevention Order excluding contact with children.
He was disqualified from working with children indefinitely.
Ruth Armstrong, prosecuting, said Wright was identified as trying to pay for indecent child pictures from the internet and police found indecent images on his computer and mobile phone.
Of the 165, 141 were at the lowest category of seriousness but there was one deemed to be at the highest.
John Stokes, defending, told the court there was no suggestion Wright assaulted or groomed youngsters.

“Indecent images were found as a result of an initial police investigation for fraud! ... as someone already said ... no smoke without fire!”

“Ian, Redland:
Parliament¿s answer to your concern:
Baroness Scotland of Asthal:
People who sexually abuse children are often found to be in possession of indecent images of children. There is evidence to suggest that child pornography can be used in an attempt to legitimise their sexual activities with children and to "groom" or encourage compliance from their victims. However, we are not currently aware of any evidence to support a direct causal link between access to child pornography and the commission of sexual offences against children.

“CRB?
He would only fail to get one if he had committed offences in the past.
The point is he won't get one now.
CRBs are not predictive or preventive. They do as it says on the box, check if you have a criminal record, simples.”

“Interesting problem for parents who live in Rectory Gardens and whose children play nearby. Do you just hope he doesn't graduate beyond just looking and hope he doesn't abduct your child or do something ? And before the BEP remove my comments, it's a valid question.”
