Bristol college topping-out ceremony
St Brendan's Sixth Form College is forging ahead with its £200-million rebuilding programme.
A topping-out ceremony was held at the college in Brislington on Wednesday to mark progress on a new building which will replace the main section of the 1,500-student campus.
Father Gerry Walsh, of St Joseph's Church, Portishead, led a blessing.
Work is on schedule and expected to be completed in July.
The topping out ceremony was attended by representatives of the pupils who are looking forward to using the new facilities.
Two members of the student union also accompanied Father Walsh to the top of the building to assist with the blessing.
Principal Derek Bodey said: "This is the second stage of a £20 million investment which will improve the college's facilities enormously, ensuring that all students will benefit."
A multi-purpose sports hall was completed in November and opened by international rugby player Mark Regan.
