Bristol college are a cut above the rest at hair-styling championships

City of Bristol College has picked up eight major awards at the National Hairdressers' Federation South West Hair-styling Championships in Taunton.

NVQ Level 3 Hairdressing student Kate McLellan, recently named Student of the Year 2009 in a national hairdressing competition, won first place in three categories.

Kate received the top award in the trainee ladies' cut and blow-dry, junior ladies' evening style (long hair) and open colour creation (full look) categories. Kate also won the Junior Somerset Champion trophy. In the trainee ladies' commercial blow-dry category, George Knight and Emily Hambridge received first and second places, while Jess Sutton received first place for trainee men's fashion style. Toni Barrett and Charlotte Macey also received second and third places in the trainee ladies' cut and blow-dry category.
