The books, which are being made into an animation, focus on the adventures of a group of young eggs and Splat is the leader of the gang.
During the visit to the hospital children were presented with mugs, badges and free copies of the book, Shelltown: The Meggabike as well as meeting Splat.
Manager of the play service at Bristol Children's Hospice, Elaine Eastman, said: "The children really love having fun characters to visit.
"It breaks up their day and gives them a bit of excitement."
Among the youngsters, Lydia Farnham said: "It was a big surprise seeing Splat the egg at the play centre."
Mr Sparkes said: "It's absolutely fantastic to see the smiles on the children's faces."
