Police are appealing for help from two young Bristol children who may have seen a robber running away from the scene of a crime.

Thousands of pounds were stolen when security men collected cash from the Halifax Building Society premises off Oatlands Avenue in Whitchurch, near the Asda supermarket, on Tuesday, March 2. Officers are also trying to trace a carry case and sleeve that the cash taken in the robbery was inside.

Detective Constable Clement Goodwin said: "This was a high value robbery and we are still extremely keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this incident or seen anyone acting suspiciously in the area at the time.

"We would also like to speak to two children, aged around eight or nine years old, who may have seen one of the offenders running in the Priddy Drive area.

"These people may have vital information that could help this inquiry."

Two men, with their faces covered, approached security staff and threatened them with a weapon before taking the cash. They were white, in their late 20s or early 30s and between 5ft 6ins and 6ft tall, with one offender taller than the other.

They may have had facial hair and were wearing light-coloured tops.

Anyone with information should contact Bristol CID on 08454 567000 or contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
