The Bristol Softball Association (BSA) is celebrating after eight of it members passed the BSUK Level 1 coaching course and assessment last weekend.

BSA members Lillian Tanner, Susy Jackson, Tara Welsh, Jo Stretton, Mark Fenton, Kev Pattenden, David Lee and Mark Saunders spent from 9am to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday at Bradley Stoke Community School studying in the classroom aswell as out in the field. The assesments took place on Sunday afternoon.

Newly qualified Assistant Coach Jo Stretton said: "It is the first time that the course has been run in Bristol. We are now nationally qualified as Assistant Coaches. The next step is to become a fully qualified coach by taking a Level 2 Coaching Course.

"The BSUK trainers, Sarah Jones and Will Lintern were extremely helpful and supportive. The course gave us all new information and exercises which we are planning on incorporating into our current training regime. They also picked up on a few personal technical points for those that wanted/needed them.

"Will and Sarah were keen to hear about how Bristol Softball Association is so successful and we passed on to them information and advice that they could use elsewhere."

Jo added: "We all went to the pub afterwards to discuss the weekend, celebrate the outcomes and "live the buzz of Bristol Softball!"

Bristol Softball Association now has eight qualified coaches - Lillian Tanner, Susy Jackson, Tara Welsh, Jo Stretton, Mark Fenton, Kev Pattenden are all Assistant Coaches, David Lee is BSA Head Coach and Mark Saunders is the current Great Britain Softball Coach.
