Smoke filled a ground floor flat in Franklyn Street, St Paul's, when its owner left some cooking on the stove at about 7.30pm on Monday.

Fire fighters from Temple and Speedwell attended and got rid of the smoke. It is thought the owner began cooking in the kitchen but forgot and went out. The alarm was raised when her granddaughter returned home. No one was injured.
