For years Janine Chrispin enjoyed making personalised mugs and gifts for her family and friends from her spare room in Downend.

Yesterday, Mrs Chrispin, 36, opened a shop in Cleeve Wood Road, after her small business outgrew her home, and she is confident of success, despite the economic climate.

Mrs Chrispin's business. T-Shirt Printing & More, specialises in clothes printing and embroidery, but also provides merchandise including pens, keyrings, pencils, and fridge magnets.

She is also hoping to offer the service of embroidering school logos onto clothing for those who cannot afford high price polo shirts from specialised school suppliers.

She also sells school uniforms.

Mrs Chrispin, who is married with two children, started the company in 2004 from her spare room, after leaving her job as a commercial officer for the MoD. After seven months of working from her home, Mrs Chrispin found a small shop in Staple Hill Road, Fishponds.

But she moved back home into her garage when she realised the shop was too small.
