Enterprising students from The Ridings Federation Winterbourne International Academy have raised over £1,000 for charity by holding a Ladies' Night.

The event at Bristol Golf Club, Cribbs Causeway, was organised as part of their enterprise assignment by Year 13 business studies students Chloe Jakeways, 18; Sophie Biggs, 17; Naomi Catley, 17; Oliver Frampton, 17; Nick Crane, 17; Hannah Boakes, 17; Kim Perham, 17; and Charlotte White, 17.

Heart FM presenter Paulina Gillespie and former boxer Glen Catley hosted the evening, which was a sell-out with 85 guests attending. Among the attractions was an auction featuring six pairs of Hunter boots, a leather jacket from French Connection UK, and a Paul Costelloe handbag.

A total of £1,204.99 was raised for Jo's Trust, which supports sufferers of cervical cancer.

Business studies teacher Liz Pell said: "Paulina was a brilliant compere who created so much atmosphere during the first half of the evening, and Glen Catley wowed the audience with his song tracks and also raised lots of money through the charity auction.

"I am so proud of the students, who provided a magnificent evening of entertainment for 85 ladies from the local community."
