Bristol buses criticised by councillors
Bristol's bus network came in for criticism in a discussion about the city's transport problems.
Councillors said that buses were overpriced and a better service was needed when they debated a report by the sustainable travel select committee.
The committee made a series of recommendations on how transport could be improved in the city, including the council joining the Bristol Car Club scheme and encouraging more people to walk.
Councillor Richard Eddy (Conservative, Bishopsworth) said: "We have not been served well by First and it's time for that to change. We only have one travel shop in the city and that is a shame."
Councillor Martin Golding (Labour, Hillfields) said: "We have campaigned for £1-a-fare buses. When I pay £2.50 for a journey that might take five minutes, it rankles."
Some recommendations by the committee are already being implemented, such as the first 20mph zones in the city.
That scheme received widespread backing at the meeting, with several councillors saying it should be expanded further.

“Bristol buses should have local branding (none of this first group rubbish), just like the park and ride operations. The network split into two tenders, show case routes and BRT routes.
These tenders should be renewed every 5 years.
Simples !!”
