Are Bristol bus drivers arrogant and rude?

I would like to make a complaint about the driver on the No.6 bus from the centre to Kingswood.

I recently caught the No.6 from the centre to Kingswood Holly Hill shops. when the bus stopped, my daughter got off. I was behind her with my left leg on the ground.

I went to put my right leg down on the ground with my walking stick when the driver of that bus went to close the door and I fell off the bus and landed on the grass verge.

I am recovering from a left hip replacement and luckily I didn't do any damage to my hip. I had an argument with the driver and asked him for his number so that I could report him but he didn't comply. So my daughter rang the bus company at Lawrence Hill with the details of the time and number of the bus from the ticket.

The person that my daughter spoke to at Lawrence Hill depot asked for my name and address and my daughter's name and address and was told that we would receive a letter of apology from the bus company.

This happened on September 21 and still we haven't heard anything. At the time, I was staying with my daughter for a few days.

It seems as though the bus company can't be bothered to take action or send a letter.

When I fell on the ground it shook me up and I felt really bad.

The driver of the bus was a mad driver as when we got off the bus we noticed that he was stopped away from the bus stop also about 10 inches from the kerb.

I hope you can help me on this complaint as I have no faith in First Bus, what with arrogant and rude drivers, they have working for the company.

S Cook,

Hartcliffe.

“I've often wondered - do bus drivers have to pass the MOT driving test as with the rest of us?”

“I particularly like the way the drivers drive straight at oncoming traffic, but its ok as they have their headlights on (in the daylight!).

They must think they're emergency drivers 'on a shout'!”

“Many bus drivers have no customer service at all and are very rude and arrogant.

However there's one group thay could all learn from and that's the park and ride 902 that runs along the portway, they are really friendly and very helpful and the service is excellent and the bus comes when it's meant to come, the buses are also very clean. So whilst I agree with you mainly about First bus who are terrible I have to say a massive well done to all the staff and drivers on the Portway 902 service, brilliant.”
