Bristol burglar admits to 43 crimes
A prolific Bristol burglar serving five years in jail has admitted a string of offences that police are yet to solve.
Heroin addict Nicholas Caple, 22, was jailed earlier this year for crimes including conspiracy to burgle and burglary.
In jail, he told police that he wanted to admit to 43 other crimes despite there being no evidence linking him to them.
Caple went with police in a car and pointed out where and when he had committed the offences.
At Bristol Crown Court, he was jailed for a further year concurrently after admitting burglary and asking for the 43 other offences to be taken into consideration.
The burglary he admitted was at a property in Ashley Down Road, Bishopston on November 22, 2007.
Paul Connell, prosecuting, said the owner of the property had been away when his door was kicked down with two mountain bikes worth £3,000, and £2,500 of cash, stolen.
Sarah Regan, defending, said her client had been a prolific offender due to an addiction to heroin
She said Caple had called to be dealt with for the offences he has now been jailed for before he received his five-year prison sentence and wrote three letters to the police.
The judge accepted that the matters should have been dealt with when Caple was originally sentenced.
Miss Regan said: "This is a young man who wants to change his life. At the time of interviews, police had no evidence linking Caple to any of the crimes."
Jailing Caple for 12 months, Mr Recorder Ignatius Hughes QC said: "It's not your fault that all of the matters I deal with today were not dealt with some time ago when you received a substantial sentence of imprisonment.
" It would be unfair to you to now add to your sentence."

“O.k fair enough CHRIS.
I think it depends on the circumstances too. Some kids are raised into this kind of lifestyle and dont know any better. On the bright side this man has chose to tell the police of all the offences which shows some slight decency. Perhaps if people were there to help him sooner he wouldn't be in this mess and other people would not have to suffer because of it.”

“Are you really that thick, or have you done a course in 'Being a Thick Scumbag'? Read the location. (Hint, it's just to the side of where it says 'DCI Gene Hunt'). I presume you're also too thick to understand irony as well. If you'd have heard of the periodic table, you'd think it was part of that, you scumbag.
Harry Enfield's parody of you lot was SPOT on.
Savvy?”

“Andy, you utter scumbag, should'nt you be out stealing alloy wheels? You MUST have a Giro burning a hole in your shellsuit, so go out and spend it on a floral wreath, and a black armband, you professional mourning vermin, "eh, eh, eh, comead, calm down, calm down"........

“What you talking about CHRIS?
Are you saying it would be fine if he took drugs as long as he had a job? Its not fine at all! Anyone who supports those scumbags who import that stuff and sell it are scumbags themselves. This is not the way we want our children to grow up. Not in a society full of easily supplied drugs and crime. Things have to change.”

“Ye Gods, Michelle, did you actually write that? You did, didn't you?
How about scum like this taking reponsibility for his OWN life and failings?
Heres and idea - anyone commiting a FIRST offence has to be 'interviewed' by Gene Hunt and DS Carling? The utter scumbags will NEVER want to darken the doors of crime again. If they ARE stupid enough to commit another crime, I will put them into a hole so deep that sunlight will take a week to reach them.
Savvy?”

“Hes just crying out for help with his addiction really and knows he can get that help in prison.
Maybe if social careworkers and doctors helped him in the first place he wouldn't be in this mess.
Heres an idea-how about everyone who clearly has an addiction and gets caught by police aren't just released back out again? I'd prefer it if they got help as soon as someone was able to tell he needed it. Then perhaps these crimes could have been prevented.”
