WHAT'S believed to be Britain's largest and most fattening burger has gone on sale in Bristol - at an artery-busting 2,645 calories.

Loaded with four 1/4lb beef patties, eight rashers of bacon, eight slices of cheese, 12 onion rings, heaps of salad and three sauces, the "super Scooby" contains 145 more calories than the daily recommended limit for men.

It stands six inches tall, has a circumference of 13 inches, and weighs in at a staggering 1.5kg – the same as a family-sized roast chicken.

If that wasn't enough, it comes with an extra side portion of chips.

The Jolly Fryer takeaway in Filton is offering customers the gut-busting meal for £10 – and a free can of diet coke to anyone who can finish it in one sitting.

Among its fans are ''real man" Luigi Armato, 22, who has eaten a Super Scooby once a week since its creation earlier this year.

Luigi, who works at Vince's Italian takeaway close to the Jolly Fryer in Filton Avenue, said: "I eat a Super Scooby about once a week and I feel fine.

"The truth is, I really enjoy eating them. I also like it because it's a real challenge to finish.

"You have to be a real man to eat one.

"They're delicious and I don't care about the calories.

"I always think it's healthier than fast food burgers because they prepare it fresh into front you."

Jolly Fryer owner Nick Lomvardos, 42, said: "None of our customers have ever been disappointed by the Super Scooby.

"'We have never heard of a bigger one being served up anywhere else and we are challenging any big eaters to come along and finish one.

"If you can manage that then we'll give you a free can of diet coke.

"I have never tried eating one myself but I'd struggle to finish one half the size."

“Well L.R Kitten, getting shot at dawn never did me any harm, it made me the man I am today. No doubt in this day and age they would be taken out and bought a super Scooby before being flown to Africa for a sightseeing holiday at the taxpayer¿s expense at dawn. Now I suggest that you get off the internet and get back to your suffragette meetings and dancing the Charleston, before your head explodes. Political correctness gone mad.”

It may be a trivial argument, but you've lost it.”

“When I was young the test of a real man was his willingness to sit in a muddy hole in France for 3 weeks, before climbing out and being machine gunned to death within 5 seconds. Now it¿s his willingness to eat a massive burger to win a can of coke. No wonder we are the laughing stock of Europe.”
