A 12-year-old pupil at Fairfield High School will be part of the warm-up for Mercury-award winning musician Roni Size at the Colston Hall later this month.

Milo Dwek, from Bishopston, won a contest to join DJ Quest in a headline slot as part of the launch of the hall's £20-million new foyer.

He beat off competition from many other much older youngsters to get the chance to perform in the New Generation Takeover on Saturday, September 19.

Organiser Jagos Holmes said: "His tune selection was absolutely perfect."

Leah Holmes, of Fairfield school, said students and staff were very excited by Milo's success, as were his friends and family.

The New Generation Takeover, which is aimed at under 18s, takes place from 10am to 2am. Events during the day are free and tickets for the evening event cost £8 for under 18s.

Tickets can be bought from Colston Hall Box Office on 0117 922 3686.
