Bristol boxer Tyler Davies homes in on ABA Championship glory
Bristol boxer Tyler Davies has his sights trained on national glory after upsetting the odds in the Western Counties Senior ABA finals.
Teenager Davies, who boxes out of the National Smelting Club, carved out a unanimous points verdict against experienced Mayflower campaigner Ryan Hart to emerge victorious in the 57-60kg category at the Wise Campus in Filton.

Nicknamed ‘Tiger’, the 18-year-old Filton College student counter-punched beautifully to overcome an opponent five years his senior and book a place in the National ABA quarter-finals, which take place in Bracknell on Saturday.
NSC head coach Garry Cave said: “This was a breakthrough win for Tyler. Hart boasted more than 60 previous bouts, more than twice the number Tyler has had.

Davies is studying for NVQ level 3 in sport, training at the Wise Campus during the day and then joining his club-mates at NSC in the evenings.
A qualified personal trainer and boxing coach, he was boxing student of the year at Filton in 2012.
