Bristol boxer Danny Butler to fight Tom Costello for English title on March 9
Bristol boxer Danny Butler has been handed an opportunity to win a second championship belt in the space of six months.
Crowned British Masters champion when stopping Frankie Borg in eight rounds in Newport last summer, Butler has now been nominated to challenge Midlander Tom Costello for the vacant English middleweight crown at Wolverhampton's Civic Hall on Saturday, March 9.
And the Bristolian is confident he can inflict a first defeat upon Costello in 14 paid outings.
He told The Post: "Costello is only a year younger than me, but there is a big gap in terms of experience.

"I've been in with some of the best middleweights in the country, while he has yet to box at this level.
"I'm the more experienced fighter and I feel I'm improving all the time."
Butler was inactive for six months after signing for Bristol-based trainer Andy O'Kane a year ago, but exploded back onto the scene when knocking out Borg to claim the Masters title in July.
Victory over the previously unbeaten Costello will improve Butler's chances of landing a shot at the British title later this year.
He said: "I've learned such a lot since joining Andy O'Kane and people will see some new things from me when I step into the ring at Wolverhampton. It should be a cracking fight."
Tickets for the nine-fight show cost £35 and can be booked by calling Danny Butler on 07540 365505.
