@Bristol backs the city's Pound
THE At-Bristol Centre has become the city's first visitor attraction to start accepting the Bristol Pound.
As of this week, the science centre is taking the local currency at all its ticket payments points, its shop and its café.

"We've had a lot of assistance from Bristol Pound setting the system up and with both a mixture of local, national and international visitors, I can see the notes being a big hit."
Ciaran Mundy, Director of the Bristol Pound, described the news of a major attraction opting into the scheme as "fantastic".
He added: "At-Bristol is a pioneering institution in our city, attracting many people from near and far. "We love what they represent with their unique and highly effective way of engaging, entertaining and educating people.
"We are very excited that everyone can show their commitment to the city by spending Bristol Pounds there."
Newly elected Bristol mayor George Ferguson – who said he is happy taking his salary in Bristol Pounds – announced last month that traders at the popular St Nicholas Market will now be able to pay their rents in the unique currency.
When the currency was launched on September 19, more than 300 retailers signed up to the scheme.
There are thought to be tens of thousands of Bristol Pounds in circulation.

“It would be interesting to know what volumes of business any Bristol business is doing in Bristol pounds. Why would this Mickey Mouse currency be a big hit with National and International visitors?”

“If I recall correctly, they'll accept rather a lot of Bristol Pounds for admitting even one person.
"keeping local money in Bristol" - pure fantasy by the economically-illiterate. Probably arts graduates, I expect.”
