Bristol army wife to run the New York Marathon
The wife of a Horfield soldier will be pounding the streets of the US to raise funds for an army charity.
Aileen Griffiths, 54, will be running the New York Marathon to help the local branch of the Army Benevolent Fund.
The charity works to provide support to serving soldiers, former soldiers and their families in times of need.
She is being supported by her husband Dennis Griffiths, 54, a mechanical transport warrant officer, who is based at Horfield with the 39 Signals Regiment.
The marathon will be Mrs Griffith's fifth after already completing the London, Cardiff, Belfast and Edinburgh races. She has already raised more than £700 but has set herself a target of £1,000.
She said: "I am very aware of the need to increase the funding available through the ABF."
