A 20-year-old man found dead at his home in St Andrew's died from a heroin overdose, an inquest heard.

Manchester-born Daniel Vigurs was discovered in his room at a property in Chesterfield Road by friends on May 3, 2008, an inquest at Flax Bourton Coroner's Court was told.

The inquest heard that Mr Vigurs, who previously lived in Ashley Road, took crack cocaine and heroin, and drank heavily.

A toxicological report revealed Mr Vigurs had a high level of morphine in his system and his medical cause of death was morphine toxicity.

Coroner Terence Moore said that although Mr Vigurs had made attempts to take his own life and had discussed killing himself, he could not return a verdict of suicide.

The coroner said: "He could have taken a dose of heroin which was stronger than anticipated or he may have stopped taking it, his tolerance dropped and this dose has killed him."
