WITH the successful hatching of crocodiles for the first time in 11 years the zoo has shown once again what a crucial part it plays in protecting species of all kinds.
It is further evidence of how zoos have changed. Where once they existed simply to allow people to gaze at animals we would otherwise never have seen now they play an important role in protecting wildlife.
