A Bristol University student has been diagnosed with swine flu and a further three suspected cases are being investigated.

Health Protection Agency experts are believed to have confirmed the individual was suffering with the disease in the last hour.

All four students are thought to live in the same flat.

The university is working with the Health Protection Agency to work out what course of action to take.

Bristol has been relatively untouched by the swine flu outbreak in recent weeks.

Two cases emerged in the area early last month. The first was a year 7 pupil at Downend School who came down with the virus after returning from a holiday in Mexico and the second, Barry Greatorex, of Chipping Sodbury, was believed to be the first case where H1N1 was contracted in England.
