More than 150 artists exhibited their work across south Bristol at this years Southbank Arts Trail.

Fifty different venues took part in the event, which gives residents the chance to find out what the city's artists have to offer.

Southville Centre, Bristol South swimming pool, the Tobacco Factory and Dame Emily Park were among the many destinations on Saturday and Sunday.

The theme this year was letters and letterboxes.

A new rehearsal studio for musicians was launched on Saturday as part of the trail.

Phil Dudd has opened the Dean Lane Music Practice to provide rehearsal rooms to musicians at reasonable rates.

One sound-proofed room has already opened and two more are being added to the upstairs of the former brewery in Dean Street, known as the Albany Buildings.

The studio was officially launched during the arts trail, when visitors made instruments out of junk and demonstrations were given by top musicians.

John Hughes, who is also based at the studio, said: "It has been specifically set up to help and support young people who can't afford to rehearse or record their own music.

"The studio can also provide equipment and advice for those needing it as well as storage space and transport for youngsters."

Mr Dudd, 45, who plays keyboards and guitar, said: "It will be rehearsal rooms initially then we want to bring in more multi-media stuff and video editing and recording facilities."
