Scouts from the last 80 years gathered in Totterdown to celebrate their group's anniversary.

About 90 current Cubs and Scouts from the 175th Bristol (Totterdown Methodist) group joined former members for the birthday celebrations.

Past members brought along photographs and memorabilia from their time in the Scouts, which were on display at the Totterdown Methodist Church on Saturday.

Youngsters from the current Scout group put together their own presentation of events they have been involved with.

The celebrations continued yesterday with the dedication of new flags for the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts at the Remembrance service in the church.

Cub Scout leader, John Roberts, said: "Everyone really enjoyed themselves.

"We only get together every 10 years so it is good that we got a selection of younger members of the group, in their 20s and 30s along because they will be the future of the reunion."

● Former members of Horfield 91st Scout Group are being invited to join its 91st birthday celebrations.

The group is holding an afternoon celebration at Horfield Baptist Church on Saturday and is calling on former members to get involved and join those with memories of scouting in the 1930s, 40s and 50s already taking part.

Anyone who wants to take part should call group secretary Colin Parsons on 951 3334 or email Roy Harvey of Brunel District at roy.harvey@avonscouts.org.uk
