Bristol Rugby could hand debuts to as many as seven players in tomorrow's British & Irish Cup match at Neath after naming a vastly-changed line-up.

Paul Hull and John Brain have made 12 personnel changes and two positional switches to the side that beat Nottingham 35-11.

Out go Luke Arscott, Tom Arscott, Jack Adams, Junior Fatialofa, Dan Norton, Adrian Jarvis, Jason Spice, Mark Irish, David Blaney, Roy Winters, James Merriman and Dan Montagu.

Only acting captain Darren Crompton starts in the same position as the weekend, tighthead prop, with Nathan Budgett switching from lock to blindside flanker and Iain Grieve moving to No 8.

The changes mean that Jack Tovey, Jack Gadd and George Watkins will start, while Mako Vunipola, Ben Glynn, Millfield School student Marko Mama and recent signing Sam Giddens could make their competitive first-team debuts from the bench.

The average age of Bristol's starting line-up will be 23 – with the back-line having an average age of just 19.

And forwards coach Brain said: "It's an opportunity to play some young players and to return one or two guys from injury. But, also, in playing Darren Crompton, Alex Clarke, Redford Pennycook, Iain Grieve and Nathan Budgett, we're putting those younger guys in alongside an experienced core, which I think is very important.

"They need a core of experience in there, which is why we've included those five senior players."

Bristol recall winger Mat Turner after injury, while centre Luke Eves is handed a first start since the defeat at Doncaster on October 24.

Chris Ashwin partners Robbie Shaw in a new-look half-back partnership, with Giddens standing by to make his debut from the bench.

The 25-year-old joined the club from New Zealand side Hawke's Bay last week.

"I think all Sam wants to do is get on the field and play some rugby – and we will be trying to get him some game-time," said Brain.

"I think he's a good signing – he's a footballing 12, a decent distributor, has a good kicking game and does the basics pretty well."

Bristol Rugby: J Tovey; M Turner, L Eves, J Gadd, G Watkins; C Ashwin, R Shaw; A Clarke, O Hayes, D Crompton (capt), J Brown, D Barry, N Budgett, R Pennycook, I Grieve. Reps: R Johnston, M Vunipola, B Glynn, M Mama, S Alford, M Davies, S Giddens.
