Bristol Rugby team must play better to be in the promotion chase.
READING the reports of Bristol's match against Newcastle by Steve Cotton and Liam Middleton I wondered whether we were watching the same game.
Newcastle were superior to us in every facet of the game, scrums, line-outs, rucks and mauls. Every time they got possession they made something of it, whereas we gave the ball away quickly.
I realise that there were injuries to important players but we should have done better than this. I thought we might lose this game but, if we are to challenge for promotion we must do better than the way we played on Sunday.
I have been watching Bristol since my school days during the war (I am now 84) and I wonder whether we shall ever see the likes of John Blake, Jack Gregory or the incomparable Dave Rollitt again.

It would be lovely if we could produce players who could challenge for selection for England again. Or am I dreaming?
