Bristol Rovers vs Aldershot: Broghammer to the rescue for Rovers
Substitute Fabian Broghammer converted a close-range equaliser at the death to earn Bristol Rovers their first home point of the season in a 2-2 draw with Aldershot at the Memorial Stadium
Injury time was approaching when Broghammer connected with Eliot Richards' low right-wing cross to level the scores.
David Clarkson had put Rovers in front with a stunning 30-yard strike after 11 minutes, but seven minutes later Craig Reid equalised with a deft lob after controlling a long ball from Troy Brown.
Alex Rodman was allowed space just before the hour mark to lash an angled right-footed shot across Rovers goalkeeper Sam Walker and inside the far post from 12 yards to put the Shots in front.

Visiting goalkeeper Jamie Young then made fine saves from Matt Harrold and Broghammer to protect his side's lead until the late drama.
The substitute's equaliser saved Rovers from a fourth defeat in as many home games although they again looked short of ideas going forward.

“Arbieo0489 Just a few pointers, as a season ticket holder in 82/83 i take exception to being referred to as being excrement.
You are also incorrect, City have never played before less than 3,000 in a league match played at the Gate
Bristol City FC are not in debt to anyone , the famous £30 million debt is owed to no one except the owner of the club, no banks or loans are involved, and Mr Lansdown is savvy enough to know he will never recover his debt back from the Club,so as well as having a near billionaire owner, City are to all intense and purpose debt free.
If you can not bear following a team who seem destined to struggle in the bottom tier for another season, try following a team other than the Blues.
Though i hope to see planning permission granted for the Sainsburys store on the Mem, so Rovers secure the funds to build their new Stadium at U.W.E.. Bitter and twisted little pr***s like yourself deserve nowt.”

“Still don't think things are as bad as they seem. I've been to all the home matches this year and I think it's interesting that the Yeovil JPT fixture was the best display of passing football - probably because of the absence of Matt Harrold which meant no target man. Maybe an idea to start with Clarkson (who seems to be improving with every game) and Richards (who is a little inconsistent at the moment) with Broghammer injecting pace down either wing. Harrold can be used from the bench in case a physical presence is needed up front.
He may be a 'Smash' a la Alan Warboys but we don't have a 'Grab' at the moment.
I think the defence is improving but the centre of midfield is still worrying - too many unforced errors for my liking.
Still 42 games to go....a couple of wins in the next few games will make the world of difference - the fans during the last 10 minutes against Aldershot were fantastic so the majority of the supporters are still behind the team - only a few scaremongers tend to put their thoughts on this site!”

“Opposition teams have worked out how weak we are and they are content to let Wayne Brown and Matt Gill play tippy tappy around the centre circle. They know our midfield will be packed but our defence is prone to make make mistakes and it's only a question of time till a blunder lets them in.
In the next two matches I think Gillingham and Plymouth will sit back instead of going all out attack then hit us on the break. Once we are chasing the game and forced to take the numbers out of the centre by bringing on Broghammer and Anyinsah we will crumble again as they attack through the middle.
I pity the poor Gasheads who claim to have seen the green shoots of recovery in our last two games. Johnson and Holdsworth knew exactly what they were doing and letting us have the ball in non threatening areas was part of the plan. We have no creativity, no match winner, no pace and we are prone to errors at the back.
Mark McGhee keeps saying he is happy with his squad and implying he won't be loaning players in but if this is so true why does he have to keep repeating himself ?”

“It has got to bad that even City fans feel sorry for us now. As a football league club Rovers may be finished whether we get the stadium or not. If we get the stadium the directors will be able to pay themselves back their loans but who is going to finance the losses from then on ? For years they have plodded on with their heads in the sand coughing up just enough money to keep the club going but they've done it in the knowledge they always had an asset to sell. They have never before seen fit to run it as a proper customer orientated business and that won't change. The UWE Stadium won't be a saleable asset as the land is leased so the only option will be to hand it back to the University. After that I expect to see Bristol UWE Rovers competing in non league football much as Team Bath used to do and it's sole function will be as a promotional tool for the University. By that time Forest Green Rovers, which Dale Vince is at least trying to develop as a community and fan friendly club, may be where former Gasheads end up. A truly sorry tale of neglect.”

“Yes it is somewhat quiet from the usual gas posters and as for your clowns Ashton & i8, I imagine their particular brand of misguided and delusional comment has worn thin even with themselves.
What a cracking goal from Clarkson ( viewed on League show) expect more despite some of City fans less flattering comments. As for £7k a week- that's fantasy rumour.McGhee or Higgs aren't that stupid or that rich.
As for a new ground, I hope they get it and suspect they will. If the Council can't see their own dismal mismanaged record on Bristol sport by now then god help future sport in the city.
I expect McGhee is better than league position suggests and a few wins and a winning side will change the attendances.
I love the fact that City are so far above Rovers but can't help thinking that we can only write off Rovers at our peril. Sorry Charles.”

“You couldn't make it up, a Rovers fan trying to make a point about attendances.
Having seen a desperate team franticly trying to draw at home against the footballing giants Aldershot with an attendance less than 5K I think I would be more concerned about the phone call from the "small" business advisor to Rovers chairman Nick Griffin calling in the loans.
Don't forget, the stadium is not owned by the club but by Dunford Corp & Friends, with clunker Clarkson on a rumoured 7K per week you better perk up those crowds or you might just disappear altogether. You have;
Little credibility
Little equity
Freighting expenses to cover
It's almost over Rovers, once the prospect of the supermarket vanishes on the Mem site and thus wipes out the chance to finance the Uni Stadium you will be left abandoned in footballs basement begging and borrowing until the end of time......
Sad but true...”

“@ARBIE0489 Please stop being a child with your ridiculous comments on BCFC's crowds in the 1980s and especially about the club's debt. Or, if you can't resist trying to deflect attention away from rovers' awful start to the season (you are second from bottom of the whole football league let's not forget) at least educate yourself on who has financed BCFC and what the basis of the financing is.
And remember that without the last minute goal (at home) to the mighty Aldershot, a team only three places above you in England's worst division, you would have been bottom of the league. We'll see where rovers are after 10 games but it#s not looking good at the moment.”

“If I am a Muppet...God knows what a dumb brain you are Maggers.......Go back to Withywood school and listen to the tutors this time and maybe you will beable to know your twelve times table in Year eleven.
Definitely saw attendance figures of two thousand when BCFC were in the basement (let's hope they return there soon).
ALSO NO MENTION OF THE MILLIONS AND MILLIONS OWED BY BCFC!”
