Bristol Rovers sign Newcastle United keeper on loan
Bristol Rovers have signed Newcastle United's highly-rated young goalkeeper Fraser Forster on loan.
As reported in today's Post the Pirates have been looking for a new goalkeeper as cover for Steve Phillips and have had former keeper Rhys Evans on trial at the League One club.

Forster, 21, is yet to make his debut for Newcastle but Rovers chairman Nick Higgs was delighted with the signature of the 6ft 6ins keeper on an initial month-long loan.
"We view this as another strengthening of our squad," Higgs told the club's website.
First-team coach Paul Trollope added: "He is a highly-rated young goalkeeper and there were a lot of parties interested in taking him on loan."

“I'm sure the toys he's got here are of higher quality than the ones he had at The Gate. There's some unrest going on at Ashton around Brasso,he's been offered a good contract and with the team pushing for The Prem, why should he want a transfer? I don't think we'll ever know what happened to upset Steve( I sometimes flap as every other keeper does) Phil;lips.”
