Bristol Rovers are set to complete the signing of free agent Joe Anyinsah.

Anyinsah will undergo a mediacal at the Memorial Stadium later today after which he is expected to become manager Paul Buckle's twelfth signing since arriving at the club last month.

The 26-year-old Bristolian began his career at Ashton Gate, where he made seven senior apperances, before signing for Preston North End in 2005. The speedy wideman has also had spells at Bury, Carlisle, Crewe, Brighton and Carlisle United before being released by Charlton Athletic at the end of last season.

"I know I have said this about some of the other players we've signed, but I'm delighted that Joe is joining us," manager Paul Buckle said.

"He is a brilliant addition to the squad and is another player who fits the bill in terms of what we are looking for. He's a very skilful player, possesses pace in abundance, can score goals, and has that work ethic that I always look for in a player and which is so important to me.

"Joe is a great lad, whose career I have followed over the last couple of years. We have had to work hard to bring him to the club but now he's seen what we are about he's bought into it, and I'm looking forward to working with him. His signing means that we are close to completing our squad for the beginning of the new season."

“It feels to me like history is repeating itself. The 3 year contracts might be down to 2 years and the 3K a week wages down to £2K but the throwing together of a whole group of players who are much travelled and never 100% proven anywhere seems like a league 2 version of what we got with Blizzard, Wright, Regan & Duffy etc. Mr Buckle says he has been following Joe's career over the last couple of years and he has had to work hard to bring him to the club. Haven't we heard these words before ?”

“the problem is that for every sensible, intelligent, analytical city fan (piledriver) there is a complete spanner like buckethead.

bath City attendances have risen from 700 odd to just over 1000, still one of the lowest in the 5th tier. I'm not knocking the Romans; I still go to the odd game and have seen some good matches down at Twerton over the years. Our average was around 7,000 for 3 seasons until last year, which in a year of misery and high-profile postponed off games, saw us drop, just like many teams (footy attendances on average actually went down last season). I suspect we'll be back up to 7,000 if we do well this season. And if (big if) we do get a new ground it could double, or more, with the right facilities, marketing, prices etc.”

“Bucket Head! haha Prem!! I bet the sensible reds are cringing at your words.
Don't worry about us and our signings, we are div 4 now. Concentrate on your own team and lack of activity, at least Maynards off soon to pastures new. Maybe Leicester? They have a chance of going up though whereas you don't.
Oh and I don't think we will walk the league but the new signings make it all quite exciting!”

“huntye.....are you on drugs mate? City will be in the prem next season, while you'll be playing Hayes and Yeading on a tuesday night. The only derby you'll be getting is Bath City, who are fast becoming a much bigger, and better supported club than you.

Rovers are a pathetic embarrassment to Bristol and the West Country. Please join the welsh premier where you might stand a chance of staying up (but don't hold your breath).

Joe Anyinsah.....a sh*t player, playing for a sh*t club, with sh*t supporters. Enjoy the basement sags - it's your last season in the football league.”
