Colchester United boss Joe Dunne has said that on-loan Bristol Rovers midfielder John-Joe O'Toole is unlikley to be offered regular games if he returns to his parent club at the end of the month.

Rovers boss John Ward is keen to keep O'Toole for an extended stay following some impressive displays since arriving on a temporary deal three weeks ago, but the midfielder confirmed on Monday that he was keeping an open mind over his immediate future.

The chances of O'Toole extending his stay at the Memorial Stadium, however, apperaed to increase this morning when Dunne told local reporters: "John-Joe is not going to get that regular football with me at the moment.

"We try and play a certain way, and John-Joe has been working hard to play in that style of play when we train.

“The club should back JW and back his judgement on the players he needs to sign to carry on in the way he is progressing so far so good?.
Agree with Jimbo dangle the carrot to make him captain he has enough of the pluses to go further with the team. Now that the club have the right to build the new stadium, and mr Higgs agreed that it would be better to play league football as the fans have backed the club then it would be an appreciation from the board to give us what we want.
Other clubs have made inroads to get players with smaller gates than ours so why cant we proceed. Also if Benson wants to fanny around forget it we do not want players who think they have to turn up to collect their wages. The reason he is playing for time is that the manager called him back from Portsmouth and now he is throwing his toys out of his pram.JW forget it!!
That goes for Gillespie at Fleetwood if they were crying out for games they would move.”

“If they're in that frame of mind, it might pay to put in an offer for him. He could lead our climb. If not we will be putting him on show for other teams.”
