This is Bristol

THINGS are looking much better now Bristol Rovers have put together an unbeaten run of five games and we are showing a lot more consistency.

It was good to get a point at Huddersfield as they have always been one of our bogey teams, beating us twice last season, and who can forget that Wembley play-off final?

Lennie Lawrence said recently that the first goal is all important in today's football and it meant that we were chasing the game again after conceding an early goal, but chase we did and in the end we could have come away with all three points.

It was good to see a return to form by Byron Anthony and shows what incredible competition there is for those centre-back places. He was an unsung hero last week during that late stint by Orient and thoroughly deserved to be back in the side.

I understand my comments last week about the RAF and the ball being in the air ruffled a few feathers in the hierarchy of the Bristol Rovers coaching staff but professional football is about opinions, part of the entertainment business, and sometimes takes itself too seriously.

That said "getting the result" comes before playing sexy football, although we are gradually getting there on both fronts.

Trolls' formation is certainly producing the goods and has tightened us up at the back but I would like to see a more attacking line-up for home games when it is so much more difficult to break sides down.

Craig Disley certainly revelled in getting more space out wide at the Galpharm but I am not sure he will get so much room at The Mem. It is ironic that under the present line up that Jeff Hughes is not playing out wide and I don't think we are seeing the best of him playing inside as we would in his usual berth.

Our other newcomer Darryl Duffy is getting through a tremendous amount of work and when he was signed Lenny said he would be "a box of tricks" in the penalty area, but I feel he needs another goal to kick on this season.

Jo Kuffour is pressing hard for a starting place and so is young Josh Klein-Davies back in the squad. He is another youngster who shows a lot of promise. and it was good to see him back on the bench on Saturday.

Huddersfield had an interesting ticket offer that meant fans could get in for as little as £1, but were they genuine fans? When they weren't quiet they were booing their side but I know that won't happen tomorrow night as Rovers look to push on up the table.
