The shambles off the field at our football club this week was inevitably reflected in the poor performance at Wycombe, despite Rovers taking the lead.

People are placing great emphasis on getting players in before the transfer window closes on Tuesday but at least the player loan door is always open.

It is the goalkeepers' revolving door that is spinning out of control that I am worried about. What on earth is going on? We let a proven, experienced goalkeeper in Steve Phillips go out on loan before we have secured another 'keeper. That cannot be right.

We hear lots of rumours and I suppose someone will eventually tell the fans what is going on with Phillips who cannot be on Paul Trollope's Christmas card list any more. But I cannot imagine he has ever dreamed of going out on loan to Shrewsbury Town or that they can possibly be paying him more than us.

I know we shouldn't panic though after defeat against a strong Cardiff side and our first away defeat of the season at Wycombe.

But success must start with a good goalkeeper and I was never keen on a long-term loan for what is a key position in any side whether it be Fraser Forster or Uncle Tom Cobbley.

Yet unless Director of Football Lennie Lawrence gets his finger out we could be down to just physio Phil Kite with any experience of playing between the sticks. I hope Lennie's mobile has been red hot this weekend phoning all the contacts he tells us he has in the game. And while he is at it he must be talking to clubs about bringing in a striker as well. He must surely have drawn-up a shortlist of potential target men in the last couple of months because the departure of Rickie Lambert was always on the cards and should not have taken him by surprise.

The Jo Kuffour and Darryl Duffy partnership may weave pretty patterns but it has not brought goals as we have mainly relied on penalties and Danny Coles to find the net so far this campaign.

It spoke volumes that when we were chasing the game at Wycombe the home side brought on experienced substitutes while the only striker Trolls had available to use was the ever willing but vastly inexperienced Ben Hunt who I am afraid is not ready to fill the big boots left by Lambert.

Trolls is adamant it was right to leave bringing on Ben Swallow until 10 minutes before the end, but what can a youngster be expected to do in that time?

I hope he gets a full game at Hereford tomorrow along with a new goalkeeper, a new striker and a new strong midfield player.
