Bristol Rovers fan's view by Dennis Payter: At last a win and I don't care that it was a last-gasp goal to finish off a scrappy game.

It was vital that we got three points from this match if only to stop the rot and maybe kick-start our season once again.

Perhaps our expectations have been too high since our remarkable start to the season but it has been alarming how the confidence has drained from our side in the last few games.

Yet I was impressed with the commitment and endeavour right to the end against the Cumbrians in difficult conditions.

Chris Lines' winner topped a hard-working display in which he made several probing runs through the middle although lacking a finish.

Jeff Hughes also capped a fine display with a goal. He is proving to be a fine left-back and seems more effective down the left flank from that position than when he is in midfield.

It was good to see Ben Swallow get a start and I would have preferred us to use speed on both flanks by playing Andy Williams instead of Dominic Blizzard who doesn't have the pace to play wide.

Overall it was a fine comeback by The Gas after the disappointment of twice falling behind.

To concede from a corner was disappointing. The second goal was nearly as bad as the visitor's former City player Richard Keogh leapt unchallenged to head home as the ball hung up in the wind.

Mikkel Andersen was a breath of fresh air when he first appeared in a Rovers shirt, we had not been used to seeing a goalkeeper of ours commanding his box and coming early for crosses.

But the management needs to get to the bottom of why he hesitates and stays on his line, much the way he did in the game against Yeovil Town. I hope it is just part of a learning curve for him.

Chris Dickson was another disappointment. His first touch is poor, his final ball even worse and he is not great in the air, altogether a waste of a clean shirt I would say. Paul Trollope says he has attributes, well it is about time he started to show them.

Trolls says the chairman has sanctioned a couple of loan signings and I feel the priority must be a better quality striker. Now lets build on this win with another against Gillingham and I hope all those who left early on Saturday have learned their lesson.
