PAUL Trollope has warned that Bristol Rovers could be forced into a major defensive reshuffle for next weekend's FA Cup opener at Bournemouth after losing three full-backs to injury during Saturday's defeat at Leicester City.

Aaron Lescott, Joe Jacobson and David Pipe all limped out of the 2-1 reverse at the Walkers Stadium, where two Matty Fryatt goals in the final four minutes ended the Pirates' seven-game unbeaten run.

And Trollope, who has already had to contend with a string of injury problems at the back this term, fears all three could be unavailable for the weekend.

"David has a hamstring strain and we'll have to assess how long he is going to be out this week," said Trollope.

"Joe's got a rib injury after getting barged and landing heavily on his back and will have an x-ray. Aaron picked up a hip injury from a tackle.

"The early diagnosis is that we'll be missing Pipey next weekend and could be without Joe as well.

"Although Aaron's injury was a knock, it is in an area that can take a while to heal, so we will know more as the week goes on.

"It does leave us short. We have had a bit of a defensive jinx in terms of injuries sincepre-season, and that has certainly continued."

If the trio are ruled out of the Cherries clash, Rovers could see Ryan Green return to the right-back berth with Jeff Hughes on the left.

"We have Ryan coming back to fitness and Jeff has played at left-back before on a number of occasions," said Trollope, who admitted his disappointment with the Leicester defeat after his side looked set for victory thanks to Jo Kuffour's opener.

"We felt we were worthy of leading the game through Jo's fantastic strike," he said.

"But Leicester pushed men forward and although we didn't help ourselves at times by not keeping the ball well enough and making some rash clearances, pressure told in the end. We felt we deserved something out of the game but unfortunately didn't get it.

"They had a lot of corners and free kicks which we seemed to be dealing with and, up until late in the game, they weren't creating anything from open play so we are very disappointed to have lost. I'm still proud of the players as it was a huge effort and a good performance against a strong Leicester side.

"We want to start another run now and we have to bounce back quickly for a good game at Bournemouth next week. We lost to them in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy earlier in the season and want to make amends for that."

“Sign Gary Warren from Team Bath, a really outstanding, tough and strong defender. Ideal to perform on those long, winter away trips.”
