Bristol Rovers will move into League One's top 10 for the first time since August if they can follow up their weekend home win with another against Huddersfield Town tonight.

The Pirates have not won back-to-back games at the Memorial Stadium since they followed up January's 3-2 victory over Cheltenham with a 3-0 triumph against Yeovil on February 17.

But that is the aim for Paul Trollope's side against the Terriers tonight, and the first-team coach is urging his side to make the most of their chance to push on.

"We hadn't won a Saturday home game for a while, so it was pleasing to do that against Stockport and keep a clean sheet.

"The victory was pretty comprehensive and we could have had a few more goals," said Trollope.

"We'd identified the Stockport game as one that would allow us to close the gap on them with a couple of games in hand.

"We've still got a game in hand on Huddersfield and another win would allow us to push further on into the top half, which we feel we are capable of doing."

The game will pitch Trollope against his former Fulham team-mate Lee Clark, who took over at the Galpharm Stadium in December.

"They have had some indifferent results, but they picked up a good win at Hereford on Saturday, which is not an easy place to go," said Trollope.

"They will be pleased with that and looking for another one tonight.

"I played with Lee for a spell at Fulham and he went on to be assistant to Glenn Roeder at Norwich.

"Now he has a manager's job of his own and he is trying to sign players and shape things his way at Huddersfield.

"He has a good backroom staff there and with the potential at the club because of the size of their stadium and fanbase, it's a good start for him and I'm sure he can have a good future."

Rovers are likely to be without right-winger David Pipe and could also be missing left-winger Jeff Hughes if an X-ray confirms he has broken his hand.

The Pirates are expected to stick with the 4-3-3 formation they fielded against Stockport.

"It doesn't have to be the way we played it against Stockport because there are a few possibilities for us to change it," said Trollope.

"It puts some different demands on the players tactically and physically, but they coped with it very well on Saturday.

"Some things still need fine tuning – but a lot of things about it pleased us and it has given us food for thought ahead of tonight."

Rovers are expected to include Ryan Green in this evening's squad as the defender has recovered from a knee injury.
