PAUL Trollope sees Bristol Rovers' FA Cup draw as a chance to avenge what he believes was his side's worst performance of the season.

The Pirates have been drawn away to Bournemouth in the first round – and it will be the sixth meeting between the two clubs in cup competitions in the last five years.

The Cherries have dumped Rovers out of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy at the first hurdle in the last two seasons, including a 3-0 win at the Fitness First Stadium in September.

"That was a big disappointment for us and probably our worst performance of the season, so it would be good to get revenge for that," said Trollope.

"The result started a bad little run for us, which thankfully we are over now, and the draw does give us a chance of progressing to the next stage of a competition which has been very good to us in recent seasons.

"But if we are going to go through, we will have to play a lot better than we did down there earlier in the season."

The sides last met in the FA Cup two seasons ago when Rovers won a second round replay 1-0 at Bournemouth after a 1-1 draw at the Memorial Stadium.

This season's clash is expected to b played on Saturday, November 8.

Elsewhere, Leeds were handed a home clash against fellow Coca-Cola League One outfit Northampton.

Gary McAllister's side, who won the competition in 1972, have made an impressive start to their league campaign to currently sit second in the table.

Havant & Waterlooville – who twice led against Liverpool at Anfield in last season's competition – were given a home tie against Brentford.

Isthmian League Premier Division outfit Sutton United will hope to repeat their giant-killing feats of previous years when they host Notts County.

AFC Wimbledon were rewarded for their 1-0 win over Maidstone with a home tie against Wycombe having made the first round proper for the first time since they were founded in 2002.

Eastern Counties League Premier Division side Leiston, the lowest ranked team left in the competition, will take on Fleetwood Town provided they can overcome Lewes in the replay of their fourth round qualifying tie.

Shrewsbury face a difficult trip to Blue Square North side Blyth Spartans, Leicester will welcome either Stevenage Borough or Horsham to the Walkers Stadium.

Swindon face a tricky trip to either Durham City or Histon.

“i would love to agree with him but we remember what happened last season. lost to west brom and from there on are season went down hill. so yeah, cup runs are a bonus and it brings in money but it also effects the players physically aswell as mentally. but the way we are playing at the moment, i support the lads 110% as that is the least they deserve.
